1900 | Watsonian D-Type

A 'Watsonian D-Type Jaguar' refers to the Cheetah Cub child's car, a miniature, petrol-powered vehicle modelled after the Jaguar D-Type and produced in the early 1960s by Watsonian Sidecars company in collaboration with Glass Fibre (Birmingham) Ltd. Powered by a Villiers 75cc engine (later upgraded to a Honda engine), these rare fiberglass cars were expensive and sold to dealers or notable owners like Jackie Stewart.

Dating from early 1960s and built by Watsonian, this example comes complete with dashboard plaque giving body no as CC90. It is powered by a 75cc engine and finished in British racing green with a black seat trimmed in red piping and fully carpeted. Chain driven and cosmetically restored to a very high level, the composite body lifts up at the rear panel to access the rear mounted engine. Wearing XKD 1 number and decals including 077, it sits on pneumatic 3.5x5 tyres which are in very good condition on metal hubs. Sit your favourite (or any) child on the padded seat with a three spoke metal steering wheel and you're sure to be the most popular parent/grandparent. Equally this would look fantastic in any collection especially one that boasts Jaguars of course. Consigned by Mathew Priddy

Part on the Shamley collection these lots have been stored/on show in a heated collection and thus not in regular use. Minor recommissioning may be required should you wish to run or use these on the road.
