1971 | Toyota Corolla 1200

Beautiful Dutch Corolla 1200 in original condition with 69,835 km from the 2nd owner. Complete with the booklets, all keys and original warranty card. Even fitted with a Vermeulen-Hollandia sunroof. This warranty card is also still present. Bought new at the then garage van Amersfoort in Laren. The service booklet is neatly filled in and in 1975 the Toyota was transferred to a family member, also from Laren. This owner had a collection of oldtimers that were stored in a heated room. This Toyota was then tectylated and spent 49 years in a collection. It was used very sporadically, so the Corolla has not seen rain or brine all these years!

This very original Corolla KE-20 is more than just another barn find. Thanks to heated storage and the anti rust protection, the condition is remarkably good. The body looks cool and is mostly still in its original paint. Obviously with some patina, but that's okay after 53 years. Everything is original: the bumpers, the rims with chrome hubcaps, all locks, stickers and the lockable fuel cap. The steel sunroof works perfectly and is rust-free. I am a fan of a sunroof, because it provides extra air and light and you can use it a lot, because you drive an oldtimer quietly anyway.

The interior is completely original and typical for the Japanese 70s: simple and functional. The dashboard is in a fantastic original condition and everything is working, it is a great time capsule. The original vinyl upholstery is slightly tarnished on the left, but the rest of the upholstery is well preserved. The seats have adjustable backrests, fixed headrests and there are original seat belts.

The car was recently brought out of hibernation by two experienced Toyota mechanics and extensively serviced technically. The Corolla has been checked as it would be at an MOT and all technical points have been checked. The mechanics were positively surprised at the condition, both technically and cosmetically. How well preserved this car is. They did open up the engine and replaced the pistons and gaskets. The primal 4 cylinder runs like new again; nice and quiet and nice and fierce. The gearbox, differential and clutch are original and nice and quiet. Couldn't be any different at this mileage.

Toyota is the most reliable brand in the world with a huge fan base. From the time of this Corolla, it was the biggest competitor of the Opel Kadett. Thanks to its smart equipment, competitive price and low cost, the Corolla became the world's best-selling car.
