Descripción

1931 Sunbeam 23.8 Folding head 4 seat coupe 3316cc 20hp
Chassis number: 27018
Registraton Number: TF6782
TF 6782 left the factory on the 3rd November 1931 and was first registered two days later on the 5th November in Lancashire as a ¾ Coupe. It would have cost £795 & is one of two known survivors with this body style. Being a later example of the 20HP it benefits from the larger 3.3 litre straight six engine affording the car excellent perfomance.
This car was purchased by the current owner as a stalled pre covid restoration project. He then set about a three year meticulous restoration to bring the car up the like new freshly restored condition we find it in today. Some £80,000 or so has been put into the car in addition the the initial purchase price Assorted bills for the complete new Chrome, leather, engine rebuild etc etc come with the car, all from noted speciaists along with some 500 or so labor hours. The car is now being sold due to the ill health of the current owner. The engine has had a full refurbishment by noted expert Jim Catnach A full re-wire with appropriate fuses has also been done.
The car is finished in its original colour scheme of deep maroon over black. To the interior are new burgundy hides along with matching burgundy carpets all done to a beautiful standard of workmanship. All woodwork was also removed & refinished. A beige mohair soft top was made to finish off the ensmble along with a matching spare wheel cover.
This is a very rare & practical 3/4 coupe body affording comfortable seating for 4 people. The hood easily raises & lowers being pleasing in appearance when up & lending a rakish air to the car when down. A traditional wicker picnic hamper is found to the rear.
The resoration is a credit to the current owner & is of a standard to win prizes when shown. It has an uncannily smooth engine providing ample power & speed to run in modern traffic mated to an easy to use 4 speed gear box. Three large lever arch files come with the car detailing its nut & bolt restoration.
