1956 | MG MGA 1500

Excellent choice, made by Pietro Nava, the Mercedes-Benz dealer of Bergamo, to enter this nimble and sporty British barchetta into the 1957 Mille Miglia.

Bought in 1956 in the attractive colour combination of Glacier Blue and grey leather interior, this sexy looking sportscar was registered on the 16-th of March in Bergamo BG41239 ready just in time r to participate at the XXIV edition of the Mille Miglia on the 11-12-th of May 1957. Their race number was 229.

Nice black/white photographs show this MGA during the scrutineering, aswell at the start on the podium as during the race.

Driver, Pietro Nava and his co-driver, Giuseppe Ribolla did well and finished 133-th overall.

Discovered a couple of years ago by us in Italy in the hands of a long term owner, who for one or another reason had repainted the MGA in black…

Historical research and inspection of the MGA confirmed clearly this was the ex-1957-Mille Miglia MGA!

Enough for us to start a complete restoration back to original specification and prepare this British barchetta for another historic Mille Miglia in the hands of the new Belgian owner, who succesfully participated at the 2019 edition.
