The MGF Trophy 160 is a special, limited edition of the MGF and was introduced in 2001. This model was designed as a more performance-oriented version of the MGF and is popular among MGF enthusiasts because of its sporty appearance and improved driving characteristics. The MGF Trophy 160 was a kind of transition model between the MGF and MG TF and was therefore very exclusively equipped. Because the car was released in a limited number, only 55 units for the Netherlands, it remains attractive and exclusive.

Special accessories and features of the Trophy 160 are:
- A more powerful 1.8-litre VVC engine, now with 160 hp, which would later also be available in the MG TF;
- Stronger brakes from AP racing;
- Thicker anti-roll bars;
- Lowered hydragas suspension for better road holding;
- A sportier exhaust with a beautiful sound of its own;
- Larger but lighter 16-inch alloy wheels, wide set (rear wheels wider than front), with a design unique to the Trophy;
- Even sportier styling with a front lip and boot lid spoiler, headlights with black background and stainless steel honeycomb grilles;
- Colour schemes exclusive to the Trophy such as the Trophy Yellow of this MG with interior details in the exterior colour;
- Specially upholstered sports seats with embossed Trophy 160 logo;
- “Trophy 160” badge on the rear, car number engraved in the ashtray flap in the center tunnel;
- Optional air conditioning.

This particular Trophy was produced in 2001 and in 2002 delivered to the MG Rover dealer in Utrecht, the Netherlands. They kept the car together with a blue Trophy in their own collection. When their company closed down in 2010, they had to sell both cars. Our car was then sold to the first private owner. The first registration was in 2010 and he kept the car until 2023. In those years he has driven approximately 6,800 kilometers with this car. Because the MGF was originally delivered in the Netherlands, the mileage is guaranteed. Of course, the car is completely in its first paint and the interior as well as the soft-top are as new.

Of course, the car is in new condition. In 2024, we had the car completely technically inspected and carried out major maintenance. We fitted a new timing belt (the long and the short ones), new water pump, new spark plugs, new gearbox oil, new brake fluid, new engine oil, new engine oil filter, new air filter, air conditioning (!) filled, new coolant in the engine cooling system, new fuel filter and we set the suspension to the correct height.

Of course we drove the car a few kilometers ourselves to make sure it drives and runs as it should. And it does! After that the paint was provided with a glass coating so that the Trophy stays new when used. The only thing that hasn't changed are the tires. They are still the first tires the car left the factory with. In terms of tread depth as new, not even any dry cracks, but of course they have an old DOT code. We left them on the car because of the originality of the car. If the Trophy goes into a collection we would definitely leave it like this, the car drives fine for a few trips with these tires. If you want to use the MG more often we advise you to have them replaced.

This MGF Trophy 160 is number 41 of 55 for the Netherlands and is truly in mint condition. A comparable car is not available on the current market.
