Descripción

German car, permanently driven in southern Baden-Württemberg.

The car was registered twice by the first owner to his own company (company changed from KG to GmbH) and later to his wife. I think here, despite three entries in the letter, you can speak of one owner. Then there was another owner. So a second hand car despite 4 entries in the letter, I mean. The last owner was already a car lover and treated the vehicle accordingly and only ever registered it for a short time. The good general condition and the fact that the car never got into the usual tuning hands result from the history.

The car is accordingly not tinkered and in really good condition. Everything works, even the air conditioning and the hydro-air suspension keep the pressure.

Almost unwelded, only a little thing on the rear wheel arches. This was done by a specialist and the entire car was repainted. On the occasion, many new parts were installed e.g. Door and trunk seals, windshield and much more.

A Blaupunkt gooseneck radio, trailer hitch and the original MB rubber wedges to relieve the suspension during longer idle times are part of it.

Nice color combination silver outside and blue velor inside.

TüV and H report completed in April 2019 without complaint.

The 6.9 is still the largest displacement post-war Mercedes ever and, in my opinion, an absolute experience. Everything works. Solid base, no rust, great car with driving comfort and everyday benefits.

In May 1975 the top model of the 116 series launched on the market in 1972, the Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9, was presented; production started in September 1975. It was ready for series production when 450 SE and SEL were presented in Geneva in March 1973; because of the oil price crisis Mercedes postponed the market launch by one and a half years. [1] [2]

Its engine (M 100) was derived from that of the previous model 300 SEL 6.3. By expanding the cylinder bore from 103 to 107 millimeters with the stroke remaining the same, the displacement increased to 6.834 liters in order to compensate for the power losses caused by emissions protection measures and comfort-related power take-offs. The compression ratio was reduced from 9.0: 1 to 8.8: 1. The injection system of the 300 SEL 6.3 with an eight-plunger injection pump was replaced by the Bosch K-Jetronic, which was independent of the engine drive and worked continuously. It was switched to dry sump lubrication because the huge engine could only be accommodated under the flat hood without an oil pan. A twelve liter oil tank was placed in the right front fender, the oil only had to be changed every 15,000 kilometers. [1] [3]

The nominal power of the 450 SEL 6.9 is 210 kW (286 hp), the maximum torque is 550 Nm at 3000 / min. Between 1000 and 4200 revolutions, the torque does not drop below 490 Nm. [4] According to the factory, the 450 SEL 6.9 reaches a top speed of 225 km / h and 0–100 km / h in 7.4 seconds. Measurements by auto motor und sport from 1975 showed a top speed of 234 km / h and a test consumption of 23.2 liters per 100 kilometers. [4] In the 1976 Automobil Revue test, 0-100 km / h were reached in 7.8 seconds, 0-200 km / h in 33.7 seconds and a top speed of 237 km / h. The total test consumption was 19.9 liters per 100 kilometers . [5]

Instead of the air suspension of the 300 SEL 6.3, the 450 SEL 6.9, like the large Citroën models, was equipped with hydropneumatics as standard, one
