**Mercedes Benz 280 SE Cabrio,  W111, 1969, 118kW / 160PS, Aircondition, **

Premier class:

Based on the tailfin model range, Mercedes Benz presented its new W111 coupé and cabriolet series in February 1961.
With a high proportion of hand-made production, the price of the elegant coupés and convertibles was approximately as high as that of two full-sized W111 sedans. The displacement of these vehicles grew from the initial 2.2 liters to 2.5 liters to 2.8 liters for the 6-cylinder (excluding the W112 / 300SE) and 3.5 liters for the 8-cylinder model 280SE 3.5.

Our flat-cooled convertible has the proven 2.8 liter in-line six-cylinder with 160 hp, combined with Mercedes' own 4-speed automatic transmission.

It was first registered as a US model on September 15, 1970 and came to Germany via stations in Holland and Monaco to a proven lover of noble Mercedes Benz vehicles.

The vehicle was comprehensively and professionally restored years ago using the best possible principles, with results that are impressive.

The silver metallic paintwork is excellent, highly polished and was ceramic sealed a year ago. This means that all body parts appear in perfect shine, without scratches, stone chips or other damage. The body of this car is absolutely straight, with perfect gaps and surface transitions.

The car is completely rust-free - and most importantly, it has always been that way. We couldn't find any welding work anywhere, neither on the body, in the wheel arches nor on the underbody. The original welding points can be seen in many places and the underbody and wheel arches still have the original factory PVC coating.

All chrome parts, especially the original bumpers, are also in very good condition.

The high-quality fabric hood with headliner is in excellent condition and only shows slight signs of wear on the headliner and rear window.

Almost every detail of the interior looks like a well-maintained year-old car. All wood and chrome parts, carpets, door panels and seat covers are absolutely clean and fresh. In our opinion, the seat covers are still original leather covers (painted, not dyed leather) that have been refinished extremely professionally. The spring cores are tight and not (as is often the case) slack on one side.

The original Behr air conditioning system was refilled just a few months ago and is working perfectly. All 4 electric windows also work perfectly.

It can be assumed that all the mechanics have been overhauled over the years. The driving experience in this stately convertible is unique. The power steering ensures easy handling with its comparatively direct ratio, the disc brake system supported by a double servo has a powerful grip and the 4-speed automatic transmission eliminates the need for clutch and gearshift work. The automatic system surprises with smooth and harmonious switching processes.

The 160 hp 6-cylinder engine surprises with its quiet running. In this convertible it can be considered a very confident engine.

The car glides so smoothly and relaxed over the streets that it is actually difficult to finish a trip and get out again.

A Classic Data report from October 2021 certifies that the convertible is in condition 2+ with a market value of €190,000.

Before delivery, the ready-to-go car receives a fresh TÜV general inspection. An H approval already exists.

We would be happy to make a reasonable offer for transport to your garage.

We look forward to your request for an appointment for a viewing. Even a long journey is worth it, the car is worth seeing!
