Wonderfull condition en perfectly maintained, the ideal car for public roads and track days

At the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford crushed the competition for the first time. With the GT40 MKII, the car brand immediately claimed the first three places. And Ford also won the next three years. This ensured that the car had an iconic status from the start, which only increased over the years. The result is astonishing: the original cars, of which only 107 were produced, now have values of several millions. The result of this is that so-called recreations come onto the market that are sometimes indistinguishable from the original. We recently managed to get our hands on such a copy, from manufacturer KVA.

Our Ford GT40 from KVA:
The chassis and body were produced by KVA in 1986, but the car had its first registration in England in the year 2000. The car still has this registration.

Like all good GT40 replicas, this one is right-hand drive, with the gear lever on the right. All this remains true to the spirit of that time. The interior also features a Le Mans passenger seat and a custom bucket seat for the driver. The classic dashboard is a faithful replica of the original models, giving you a vintage racing feel as soon as you step into the cockpit.

The car is powered by a Ford 302Ci (4942 cc) engine producing approximately 285 hp, and is fed by a Holley 600CFM carburetor mounted on an Edelbrock manifold. This carburetor is linked to a set of 2 Facet fuel pumps. The gearbox has 5 speeds, strengthened and upgraded with Quaife gears and a limited-slip differential.

The chassis is equipped with Spax adjustable shock absorbers. Behind the four alloy wheels with center lock nuts, large ventilated and grooved disc brakes are operated by a pair of Tilton master cylinders. For better handling, the car is also equipped with front and rear anti-roll bars.

Safety has also been taken into account. Inside, a roll cage has been installed, a Sparco fire suppression system has been added, a pair of 3″ safety harnesses, main switch and an FIA LED rain light complete the package. For track day enthusiasts, the alloy wheels are fitted with AVON CR6-77 tires, size 225/60R15 at the front and 275/55R15 at the rear, for maximum grip.
This GT40 performs excellently in both normal and race modes and looks extremely cool in its British racing green color scheme with white stripe. The black wheels contribute to its aggressive appearance. The GT40 comes with instruction manual, invoices and a set of new, unused Avon racing tires.”

Of course we also had to give this fantastic GT-40 a good try before it was given a prominent place in our showroom, and it was fortunate that most of the cattle are already in the stable at this time of year, because it really is a bit of violence. The barking 8-cylinder gives many car enthusiasts “goose bumps” and the combination with right-hand drive but also right-hand shifting, you get used to very quickly and contributes to the feeling of being on the road with something really special. A car that is very suitable for touring around and enjoying the most beautiful curvy roads, but to combine this with a wonderful track day on the circuit of Assen, Zandvoort, Spa-Francorchamps or the Nürburgring, is of course a great option. A boy’s dream that can come true…

KVA England:
GT Developments, initially based in Manchester and then Poole in Dorset, quickly established itself as one of the leading manufacturers of extremely similar GT40 replicas. From the early 1980s, GTD had started making sub-assemblies for Kenneth Vincent Attwell’s KVA GT40 replica before moving into making complete cars. Ken Attwell had been a senior production manager at Ford’s Swansea factory, and there he was responsible for taking body molds from an original car, which he was then given permission to use to build replicas.
Under the supervision of Ray Christopher, a director of the company, GT Developments later went on to build its own version in its entirety. It is this link via KVA with an original GT40 that made the GTD version superior to its rivals, plus the fact that Ray had entered into an agreement with Bob Lutz, then head of Ford of Europe, for the supply of original parts.
