1966 Chevrolet Chevelle 300 Deluxe pro-touring build with 467 motor. Finished in a stunning GM Verde Green Iridium with Gold Pearl vinyl interior. First registered in Sweden 2015 with two owners since. Chassis number 133116K184158. The car has travelled just 5567km since being built.

This award-winning show car was put together by David Gunnars (@davidanjigunnars on Instagram) who formerly worked as builder and painter at custom car shop Brinkens Garage. David is a builder renowned for the quality of his magazine featured and award-winning pro-touring builds which balance extreme engines and a sharper chassis with the usability of something you can just jump in, turn the key and drive, as was very much the goal with this particular project of his.

From the outside this Chevelle could be mistaken for a trailer queen given its perfect paint and interior – it really looks like it has barely driven a kilometre. But look a little closer under the wheel arches and you will find them filled with remnants of tyres that have obviously been obliterated by that big old Chevy block; certain signs of fun times and of a car that is not afraid of being used and abused. What is most enjoyable about the history of the car is that it not only picked up several awards at major Swedish shows, it was driven rather than trailed to these events, travelling hundreds of kilometres across the country with no drama.

Much time was spent in getting the body into its now better than factory state, with everything straightened and smoothed out and some of the original mouldings and holes welded over. The beautiful, simple 60’s silhouette of the car remains but now sports a far lower, meaner stance, enhanced with the addition of small front spoiler and a larger custom, Pro Street style item on the rear that has become something of a signature on David’s cars and gives away that something potent is laying under the hood. The original hood has been replaced with a reproduction SS item and the arches modified to accommodate a set of beautiful 19” Forgeline GA3 rims with custom painted centres. The car benefits from a totally revised chassis and now rides on digitally controlled air suspension, adjustable at the push of a button.

Inside the seats have been finished in Gold Pearl vinyl which work well with the emerald green paint. The front seats have also been changed from a flat bench style seat to a deeper 'bucket' type to give a little more support and hold in the corners. The original analogue gauges have been replaced with a neat digital unit from Dakota, displaying all relevant information, and these sit behind a newly fitted steering wheel.
