The Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce, also known as the Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV, or simply the Bertone Coupe, is the final and most refined version of Alfa Romeo’s famous 105-series sports coupes. The story began in the early 1960s with the Scalino or “Stepnose” Giulia Sprint GT, and over the years the design evolved through the 1600 and 1750 GTV before reaching its peak with the 2000 GTV. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone, these cars combined elegant proportions with sharp, purposeful lines and a lively twin-cam engine.

Exterior: Finished in classic Alfa Rosso, this Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV presents beautifully. The bodywork has crisp, defined lines, and the panel fit is excellent – doors, bonnet, and boot all line up nicely. Chrome and stainless trim are in very good condition. It rides on GTA-style alloy wheels with Pirelli tyres, a period-correct and very attractive setup. The stance is slightly lower than standard, which gives the Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 a perfect, balanced look – sporty but not exaggerated. The car is completely solid, including the floor and sills, and the underside is clean and of course free from corrosion.

Interior: The cabin of this Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce has been beautifully re-trimmed in black leather. Both front and rear seats have been redone in high-quality material that feels soft and supple while retaining their correct shape and comfort. The door panels are new, the headliner is fresh, and all interior details are neat and functional. A Nardi wooden steering wheel has been fitted, a tasteful and period-appropriate upgrade that suits the car’s Italian character perfectly. The driving position is comfortable and the overall feel is that of a well-sorted classic that’s ready to be enjoyed.

Engine and Mechanics: Mechanically, this Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce has been completely gone through. The 2.0-litre twin-cam engine, one of Alfa’s finest, has been fully rebuilt and lightly tuned. It runs beautifully: smooth, strong, and with that unmistakable Alfa sound from both the intake and exhaust. The gearbox shifts cleanly, the clutch feels solid.

Highlights of the mechanical rebuild:

  • Colombo & Barani 280° camshafts

  • Proxmann pistons and liners (10.4:1 compression)

  • Balanced and re-hardened crankshaft

  • Cylinder head rebuilt with new valves and double valve springs

  • Weber 40 DCOE carburetors (original Bologna-made)

  • 38mm venturis, 50mm trumpets, and Filter King regulator set to 0.4 bar

  • Rebuilt oil pump and classic-spec 20W50 oil

  • Rebuilt cooling system with new radiator, thermostat, and glycol coolant

  • Ansa sport exhaust with integrated lambda sensor

  • 123 Ignition distributor, Bluetooth programmable

  • Sachs clutch, rebuilt gearbox, and balanced driveshaft

  • Strengthened limited-slip differential

  • New suspension bushings, Classic Alfa springs, and Koni dampers

  • Complete new braking system with discs, calipers, and lines

Everything has been done with care, using proper components and methods. The result is a 2000 GTV that feels tight, lively, and very well sorted. 

History and Documentation: This Alfa Romeo Bertone Coupe was sold new in Sweden in 1974, making it a rare Scandinavian-market example. After spending several years off the road, a full restoration began around 2020, covering both mechanical and cosmetic areas. The car was re-registered in Sweden in 2023 with a new registration number once the work was completed. It comes with extensive documentation and receipts for parts and labor from the restoration, showing the care and investment that went into returning this Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce to its current condition.
