Beschreibung

Breathtakingly beautiful. The Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI is finally counted among the most iconic models, after years spent in the shadow of the more famous Carrera RS MY'73.

To comply with American regulations, starting from 1974 with the "G series" Porsche renewed the shape of the 911 after almost 10 years, with new bumpers, the famous rear reflector band and black anodized glass frames instead of the clear ones; there were many other improvements, both outside than inside, such as the new seats with incorporated headrest, the "safety" steering wheel and the air vents on the dashboard.

The engines, also due to the looming petroil crisis, were all increased to 2.7 capacity with K-jetronic injection in the case of the 911 and 911 S versions, while the Carrera was fitted with Bosch mechanical fuel injection, as in the previous RS.

Talking about the Carrera RS: it was presented at the end of 1972 as a weapon to win in the Group 3 and Group 4 classes, but after a completely incorrect estimate of producing around 500 examples, more than 1500 cars were not enough to satisfy the demands of European  Porsche enthusiasts who were looking for a racing GT (The RS was never officially imported into the USA due to anti-pollution regulations). So Porsche decided to carry over the mechanics of the RS into a more sober Carrera version for the years 1974 and 1975, maintaining the wider rear track but removing the standard "duck tail" rear wing, available only as an option in 1974 and replaced by the larger "whale tail" for safety reasons, in 1975.

Like the RS, the Carrera 2.7 MY 74 and MY 75 also had great success in competitions and were used for almost a decade, until the SC-RS group B arrived. The 210 horsepowers are still the same as the RS, as is the transmission, the injection pump, brakes, suspensions and all the mechanics. Porsche produced only 505 examples of Carrera 2.7 coupe MY75, which added to the 1011 produced in 1974 make this model, more rare than the Carrera RS 2.7.

After the launch of the 911 Turbo 3000 in 1975, the aesthetics of the Carrera were updated making the two models very similar: painted headlight frames and rear-view mirror, Fuchs wheels with black painted center and the aforementioned "Whale tail" spoiler.

The example we are presenting was produced in 1975 in the Viper Green metallic color with black Shetland interior and was sold by Raffay Porsche dealership in Hamburg in May of the same year, before being imported Italy in 1986, serviced by official and well-known workshops in the Porsche world, including the Porsche tuner Orlando Redolfi, who owned the car in the late '80s. From 1989 till 2003 the car had one single owner before being sold to the current owner's coach builder.

The options included 7 and 8 inch wheels, headlight washers, rear window wiper, sports seats and black headliner. The whale tail, original, was added later, paired with the front spoiler.

The current owner purchased the car in 2008: although it was in excellent condition at the time of purchase, it underwent a complete restoration by Carrozzeria Serattini while the mechanic was cared of by the official Porsche Classic workshop - Centro Porsche Milano Est; the interior is incredibly preserved and original.

All works are documented by photographs and invoices.

The engine number matches to the original equipment number.

Porsche certificate of origin available, ASI homologation and italian title: car visible by appointment in Bologna.
