Beschreibung

The MGC Roadster is a classic sports car that was produced by the British automaker MG (Morris Garages) from 1967 to 1969. Its history and story are closely tied to the MG brand and the automotive industry of that era.

In the 1960s, MG was known for producing lightweight and nimble sports cars, particularly the popular MGB model. However, the company faced pressure to increase engine power to keep up with the competition. As a result, MG decided to develop a more powerful version of the MGB by fitting it with a larger engine.

The MGC Roadster was introduced as the solution to this challenge. It was powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six engine, which was a significant departure from the MGB's four-cylinder engine. This new engine offered improved performance, producing 145 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. With its increased power, the MGC Roadster was capable of reaching a top speed of around 120 mph.

The MGC Roadster featured a sleek and attractive design, maintaining the classic MG styling cues. It had a long hood, a low-slung body, and a distinctive chrome grille. The interior was designed to provide a comfortable driving experience, with leather seats and a wooden dashboard.

Despite its promising performance and stylish design, the MGC Roadster faced some challenges during its production. The larger engine made the car heavier, which affected its handling characteristics compared to the lighter MGB. Additionally, the MGC Roadster was released at a time when the popularity of sports cars was declining due to changing market preferences.

Ultimately, the MGC Roadster had a relatively short production run, with only around 9,000 units manufactured between 1967 and 1969. In 1969, MG decided to discontinue the MGC Roadster due to slow sales and a changing market landscape.

Today, the MGC Roadster is considered a collector's item and is highly sought after by classic car enthusiasts. Its unique combination of a larger engine, stylish design, and limited production numbers contribute to its appeal and value. The MGC Roadster remains a significant part of MG's history, representing the brand's attempt to adapt to changing market demands while staying true to its sports car heritage.

This particular MGC Roadster was purchased new by the current owner and used on a daily basis rain and shine and when it came to a point to change his car, the MGC Roadster was taken off the road and totally restored to a high standard. The car is still used today, but very rarely and the reason for the sale. An idea opportunity to purchase a one owner car in prestige condition with a good history, ticks all the right boxes.
