Healey Silverstone D-type, year 1949. Chassis number D23, engine number B3738. Colour red combined with a black interior and silver painted disc wheels. This magnificent Healey Silverstone comes with an American and European historic racing history and the car has participated in the 2016 Mille Miglia. This rare Healey Silverstone was sold new to the USA, the full history is known and documented. In the mid-1950s the car was partly damaged by a fire and then purchased by George Hoffmann from Los Angeles. Hoffmann had the Silverstone repaired and fitted with a fixed wind screen, and the oval shaped cooling vents in the sides of the engine compartment.

This Healey Silverstone featured in the US car magazine Road & Track in March 1957. In 1979 the Healey Silverstone was found in a sorry condition by the American Mr. Clifford Jones who started a full restoration of four years to bring the car back to its former glory. After completion of the restoration in the 1980s Mr. Jones raced the car at Laguna Seca in California. In 2004 the Healey was purchased by historic VSCC and HSCC racing driver Stewart Wilkie who raced the car at Silverstone, Donington, and Le Mans in 2004 and 2005. Mr. Wilkie sold the Silverstone to an Australian who drove the car in Australian club races in 2005 and 2006. The Healey Silverstone is a rare sportscar. From July 1949 until September 1950 105 examples were built: 51 D-Types and 54 E-Types.

Donald Healey Motor Company built the chassis and Riley supplied the 2400 cc ‘Big Four’ engines (featuring twin camshafts and overhead valves), 4-speed gearbox, and rear axle. In those days the Healey Silverstone was the ultimate club racers dream. Since 2016 the Healey Silverstone is owned by a Healey enthusiast family in Belgium. They participated successfully in the 2016 Mille Miglia driving this fantastic Healey Silverstone D-type. They had the car serviced and perfected by top notch specialists.
