1925 Fiat Type 501 Four-Door Torpedo
Chassis Number: 12412387
Registration number: TT3078
Fiat's first post-Armistice model, the 501, enjoyed a seven year production run with some 80,000 or so examples leaving the factory. The engine was a conventional side-valve unit of 1,460cc mated to a four-speed gearbox which gives a surprising turn of speed.

TT3078 was first registered in Devon in 1925 and although the early history is not documented, the (partial) accompanying old style buff log book indicates that it had at least enjoyed three previous recorded keepers in the Essex and Sussex counties before returning to the Devon/Cornwall border in 1973 to 'Coads' Garage, Launceston..
Having been stored at the the previous owners family home for many years, Falmouth Coachworks Ltd were tasked in the early 2000s to restore the body to its former glory. Subsequently the mudguards and all lower panels were removed leaving the engine and body on the chassis. All were then prepared and the body finished in Cherry red water-based base coat and lacquer. The interior was then retrimmed by the previous owners garage and all electrical components and brakes checked with new cables fitted.

The four-door, four-seat coachwork presents very well with the Cherry red livery over black wings and is equipped with a brass opening windscreen, hood and side-screens and a rear luggage carrier.

The car is in excellent condition & running beautifully. Under the bonnet the engine bay is simply immaculate & to show standards. The car comes with a full set of side screens & also its rare original factory manual printed in English. It sits on four cast artillery style wheels shod with nearly new tyres. A full set of side screens also come with the car for motoring on inclement days.
Rare & beautiful, this lovely little Fiat represents a welcome change from the more pedestrian cars of similar vintage we more typically see on the roads.
The car shares garage space with a Rolls Royce 20hp Tourer & now is coming to market due to the octogenarian owner suffering from a loss of sight. It is a spacious bonny little car is really a pleasure to drive. You really have to see & experience this car to appreciate the quality of it & how well it has been restored.
