A rare and early Giulietta Sprint 1300, still fitted with the original “Cambio al Volante” (column gearshift). Finished in ‘Rosso Alfa’ with a grey cloth interior. An older restoration, presented in very nice and usable condition.
This car took part in the modern Mille Miglia in 1992 and comes with an ASI Gold plate showing its originality. The roadholding is very good, the engine is sweet and makes a sporting noise (the engine sound is fantastic!). The gearbox works very well and it is easy to forget that this car is 70 years old!

Model history
With the introduction of the Giulietta in 1954, Alfa Romeo marked a decisive shift toward large-scale production. The Giulietta’s arrival caused a sensation; demand quickly outstripped supply, causing Alfa Romeo to rethink its production strategy and become a high-volume manufacturer. The company’s replacement for its advanced 1900 saloon and coupe followed the same formula in offering a number of body styles, allied with a powerful twin cam engine up-front. Body styles included a Sprint, Berlina, Spider and Sprint Speciale. The 2+2 was Alfa Romeo’s first successful foray into the 1.3-litre class.
The Giulietta was powered by a 1290 cc Alfa Romeo Twin Cam inline-four engine, featuring an aluminium alloy block with cast-iron cylinder liners. Its crossflow cylinder head incorporated hemispherical combustion chambers, while the double overhead camshafts – driven by twin timing chains – operated two valves per cylinder angled at 80 degrees.
Designed by Bertone, the Giulietta Sprint combined compact proportions with strong performance characteristics. The model reinforced Alfa Romeo’s sporting identity while making advanced engineering accessible to a broader market segment.
