Description

1930 Cadillac V16 Roadster H0048BBB
Registration Number: H0048BBB Spain
Chassis Number: 701658
Body Style: 4302
A stunning nut & bolt restoration of what must have been the pinnacle of the Roaring 20's / 30's motoring. This Cadillac had a painstaking restoration done some years ago in Paris for which there are photographs on file detailing the lengths that were gone to. The result is magnificent.
The car is finished in lovely two tone green paintwork with a green leather interior & green carpets. A beige hood, (rarely put up it has to be said) completes the ensemble.
Under the bonnet is the simply amazing V16 motor each side of which presents as the mirror image of the other. It runs in uncanny silence & its effotless to use in conjunction with the 3 speed gear box simply wafting the car down the road irrespective of the gear or gradient.
The car is of course equipped with a dickey seat allowing for any Gatsbyesque wannabes to carry two additional passengers. There is also a handy little side hatch alloiwng for ones golf clubs to be stowed in the footwell of the dickey seat area.
The dash board is the usual diamond pattern steel to the centre console with machine turned finish to either side. A full quota of original instruments are in situ in their appointed places. To the rear is a fold out luggage rack allowing for continental touring.
According to records his V16 car started out life in 1930 as a sedan; an original Fleetwood 2 door drophead body was sourced & expertly fitted to the car during restoration. Indicated mileage is 61,296. The car chassis and engine originally housed a 4330-s sedan body , A 1930 Cadillac Roadster model 3902 body # 35 was purchased from Jim Pearson of Kansas City, Kansas and sent to Mr Wayne Meriman of New Jersey who did the initial body swap for Mr Elmer Franzens. Elmer Franzens sold the project car to the Webber family of Pennsylvania in 1984. The last record of ownership known in the USA was that the ownership had been transferred to a gentleman living in Paris, France. The restoration was carried out by a renowned Parisian specialist in 1994 and the current owners bought it the following year at the Essen Fair.
Viewings are by appointment near Valencia Spain. The mild sunny climes mean the car has only seen dry use during the current owners several decades of ownership. As part of a 50 car collection the car has seen only sparing but regular use as one might expect from what is the jewel of the collection. Of particular note are the detailed restoration photographs showing the V16 engine laid out in its component parts prior to being built up into the as new condition in which we find it today. Since restoration the car has covered less then 4000 miles.
