I bought the bike in 1982 in Buenos Aires / Argentina, where I worked at that time. It was in running conditions, but worn out. It is equipped with a Black Shadow speedo ("Vincent clock") and with finned brake drums, also a Black Shadow feature.
In 1987, the bike has been fully restaured in England. However, I was not really lucky with it, so I brought it in 2004 to Patrick Godet in France. It took him three years to do the job, but the result was worth the waiting time. He did a complete mechanical overhaul including some modernizations:
Bearings, pistons, valves new, valve seats for unleaded fuel, multi plate clutch, 12 V generator, electric starter, electronic ignition, Amal Concentric carburettors, electric turn indicators, modern brake lining, stainless steel spokes, and sealing of the gasoline tank. He also installed an original Miller headlamp and installed a kick starter from another client's bike who in change got mine. My bike had the one he needed and he had the one I needed. All original pieces are kept.
The speedo has been overhauled by a specialist in England.
I did approximately 5.000 wonderful and trouble free kms with the bike.
Before having started another overseas job in 2012, I brought the bike to the Auto & Technik Museum in Sinsheim / Germany, where it is still on exhibition.
The finish is well, there are only two minor scratches on front top of the tank, which are to be found at many Vincents: When dismantling the tank, it may touch the upper stearing member. Unluckily, this happened also to me.
The tyres are old and should be changed dispite having well tread, and the battery is surely no more working. The electrical turn indicators have been removed for exhibition. The nuts of the rear chain wheel tended to loosen. They sould be changed and/or secured for example by means of Lock Tight. Except that, the bike is fully fit for use.
With the bike you will get of course all original pieces (including a double exhaust pipe without silencers, which had been installed when I bought it in Argentina) and some literature such as spare parts list and operation instructions.
