The Volvo logo consists of a circle with a diagonal up arrow at the top right, the traditional symbol for iron. Symbol for the indestructibility of Volvos. The name Volvo originated in the early days when the predecessor and later financier of Volvo, the company the Svenska Kullager Fabriken (Swedish Ball Bearing Factories, or SKF) was founded in 1907. One of the cheap bearings that were produced there was called Volvo, Latin for 'I roll'. The Volvo brand name was officially registered in 1915, both for the ball bearing and for cars and other vehicles. Under the leadership of Assar Gabrielsson and Gustaf Larson, the founders of the Volvo brand, cars were produced in the halls of SKF from 1927 onwards. They borrowed money for this from parent company SKF.The first Volvo passenger car was a model called ÖV 4, an American oriented four cilinder Tourer. Until 1949, more trucks and buses were built than passenger cars. The PV 444 became the first passenger car to be sold on a large scale. With the PV444, also known as the Kattenrug / Buckel, Volvo began its development into a successful passenger car manufacturer. Thanks to the great success of the PV444, Volvo was able to grow into a full-fledged car brand. A total of 195,504 PV 444 were produced and the Volvo brand is still a leading and innovative modern car brand to this day.
Our offer:
A beautiful Volvo PV444 from 1958 and from the last year that the PV 444 was produced. In 1956 it was intended that the PV444 would be succeeded by the Amazon, but due to the continuous demand for the PV444 and the much higher price of the Amazon, Volvo was forced to continue PV 444 production. It was decided to carry out a thorough 'update'. An engine with more power (B16A/B), electric windscreen wiper, new front and grille with a large V sign in the middle, direction indicators in fender and integrated brake light and available in different colors. As standard, most PV444 were available in black or white. The car is made of river blue, is called a split window, a blue white interior with a white steering wheel with a blue steel dashboard.
The car has been repainted and is in good condition. The previous owner is a real enthusiast and has been servicing the car with us for years.
