GENERAL

We are delighted to present a stunning example of a VW T2.

This 1969 Volkswagen bus was purchased by the current owner eight years ago after a cosmetic renovation in Ivory white and has since been equipped with a new 1,700 cc engine.

The T2 is looking stunning, and being considerably more affordable than it’s T1 predecessor, the T2 is ever-growing in popularity. Therefore an interesting vehicle for stylish weekend getaways.

Being well looked after by its current owner, this Volkswagen bus in excellent condition.

INTERIOR

The grey/cream vinyl interior is in very good condition and gives room to 9 people when needed.

Some small scratches can be found on the right-side seat of the second row of seats.

In the front, black rubber mats are protecting the floor. All the back floor areas are covered with black fabric mats in excellent condition. Although not visible without dismantling, noise-reducing mats are applied in several areas, such as the sealing, inner flanks, and doors.

The odometer reads 51.321km.

A two-spoke steering wheel rests in front of a fresh-looking powder-coated dashboard with plastic covering. A classic-styled radio fits in perfectly while offering today’s modern technology.

The gear lever has been swapped for an EMFI trigger shifter.

The headliner looks as clean as the rest of this very neat interior. An operating video of the classic style radio can be seen below.

EXTERIOR

The van has been repainted by the current owner in 2013 after a new floor was installed. Finished in ivory with a white roof and bumpers it really looks the part.

All lights and light-covers are present and in good condition. We can not seem to find any real exterior damage.

Shodded all-round with Vredestein ‘Quatrac 3’ tyres in good condition, the powder-coated wheels really catch the eye because of the re-chromed hubcaps.

The large VW-badge at the front reminds you of its T1 heritage, as the T2 is the last in range to wear its maker’s badge so big and proudly.

A high level of attention to detail was clearly upheld during the paintwork stage. Original spot-welds are still visible in multiple areas of the bodywork.

The rubber covers on the sidesteps are in top condition.

All the windows are in good condition, as are the rubber seals.

ENGINE

This van used to be powered by an air-cooled 1,600cc flat-four but has been modified with an 85 hp type 4 1,700cc engine, making this classic a lot more swift to drive.

The injection has been replaced by a single carburetor. The seller states that the engine runs perfectly when it's warm but runs somewhat unstable when cold. So you have to be patient when you start or let the engine turn several minutes before hitting the road. The engine bay looks clean and tidy, lots of engine parts have been powder-coated.

A four-speed manual transmission gets the power to the wheels. Stopping power is enhanced by upgrading the front brakes with a Willwood set of perforated discs.

SUSPENSION

Air shocks were fitted all around for a more comfortable ride. The rear air shocks however are not fully installed air wise and thus function as regular ones. The owner still has all the original parts, and they are included in the sale.

BODY

Overall this Volkswagen’s undercarriage looks really clean and healthy.

The exhaust might be the least healthy component of this vehicle.

SUMMARY

A very fresh looking van following in the footsteps of the nowadays very iconic T1 predecessor.

Although this example has merely some straightforward upgrades fitted, due to stricter originality regulations of the Belgian technical inspection for vehicles, some of the upgrades will have to be put back to original in order to be allowed on Belgian roads again. In many other E.U. countries, this wouldn’t be the slightest problem though.

PAPER TRAIL

This vehicle comes with Belgian registration documents and some invoices. More pictures of the car’s documentation can be found in the document gallery below. Please click on the images to see them in high quality.
