This Volkswagen T1 camper is still in the original paint. The bus was imported from America last year and therefore also has American papers. The bus has a nice rough appearance and also has an awning. The Camper is completely hard and has no rust. The inside of the bus is also original. The front seats have been reupholstered, but the rear part is still completely original and in good condition.
Immediately in 1950, the Bus also turned out to be particularly suitable for going on holiday. Especially the Combi, which with a single bench in the back had plenty of room for a whole family plus luggage. But because nothing is perfect, it couldn't be long before additional options and finally fully equipped RV conversions were offered. In addition, as usual with special versions, Volkswagen itself was not at the forefront. Converting or converting motor homes is a specialty that car manufacturers like to leave to third parties.
Over the years there have been many providers of VW motorhomes, but one was by far the largest: Westfalia. This German company had such a huge lead because it worked closely with Volkswagen. Westfalia motorhomes could be sold through the VW dealer network, and the company generally had insight into developments at VW earlier than others. Only in 2003, after Westfalia fell into the hands of competitor Daimler, Volkswagen was more or less forced to build campers itself. It is still the only major car manufacturer to do so.
