The 250 SL Pagoda offered for sale here was rebuilt in 2009 by Kienle in the style of the Pagoda piloted by Eugen Böhringer in 1963. The vehicle underwent a complete restoration and then the rally conversion was carried out. All works have been recorded with a photographic documentation and several invoices.
Since its completion, the Pagoda has been used regularly and successfully on various rallies. Thanks to the reinforced sports suspension (dome reinforcement in the front / dome strut at the rear) it can be controlled precisely, the sports exhaust provides the right sound. An additional oil cooler prevents overheating, an underrun protection ensures safety from below, should it ever be necessary.
An additional aluminium console has been installed in the interior, where instruments (voltmeter, engine oil temperature) and two sockets can be found. In addition, a twin and a tripmaster were installed. In the console installed instead of the radio are the switches for the auxiliary and fog lamps, the horn and the interior lamp. A flexible light has been mounted so that the passenger can navigate even in the dark.
The Pagoda is ready for the next rally, the condition is still impeccable thanks to expert care. The perfect companion for the ambitious rally driver, which is theoretically also usable in everyday life thanks to the German Historic number plates.

History of the series
The idol of our pagoda is the legendary rally car of 1963, with which Eugen Böhringer and Klaus Kaiser won the incredibly material-depleting endurance race Spa-Sofia-Liège in 92 hours non-stop driving, even before the launch of the new 230SL. The rally started in Spa in Belgium and took the 119 teams over a distance of 5500 km across Germany, Austria, Italy and Yugoslavia to Sofia in Bulgaria and back to Liège in Belgium.
The driving characteristics of the new SL were very good-natured, the car was easy to drive, only the straight run was not as good as in the rally-tested "fintail" saloons due to the short wheelbase. With his great victory, Eugen Böhringer gave the 230 SL the sporting nimbus that this new creation so badly needed after the expiration of the so successful 300 SL.
The pagoda was able to at least partially discard its reputation as a “tame women’s car”, an important milestone for the upcoming success story of the SL, which was built until 1971.
The vehicle is located in our showroom in Stuttgart-Plieningen, close to the airport/trade fair. A test drive and an inspection on the car lift are possible by arrangement.
The sale takes place on request with new inspection, service and TÜV. We also offer a wide range of accessories for your new dream car. If required, we can also deliver the vehicle to you in a closed trailer.
