Description
This exceptional driving Jaguar E-Type has been with its last owner for over ten years and has been regularly touring the UK and overseas covering around 5000 miles. Built in December 1965, this car is confirmed to be of UK origin by Jaguar, and was sold directly to the Export market. Our Series One 4.2 Roadster spent its entire early life overseas, and returned to the UK in 1989 in need of restoration. The owner was a classic car specialist in the North West, rebuilding the car himself and contracting out various elements of the work to include an engine rebuild by a specialist rally preparation engine builders. Invoices for thousands of pounds of expenditure are on file, and since completion and re-registration in 1994, the E-Type has covered around 15,000 miles.In the ten years plus with its last owner, the E-Type has successfully toured to Spa, the Le Mans Classic and the London to Brighton classic. During this time it has been superbly maintained and invoices for various upkeep comes with the car. Within the last few thousand miles it has been to the E-Type UK for the removal of the rear assembly and gearbox for replacement of the diff output seal, diff pinion seal, diff cover gasket and new gearbox seal and gasket. The E-Type has also had a new clutch and lightweight flywheel, steering rack, new upper and lower timing chains, engine mountings, exhaust manifolds, upper ball joints, clutch slave and master cylinders, brake master cylinder and new electronic fuel pump. Keeping the E-Type looking sharp, it has also had new bumpers and seals with its recent owner.
XKJ 789 is a true drivers car that feels sensational on the road. It performs incredibly well with impressive performance from the rebuilt 4.2 six cylinder engine. The all syncro gearbox is a delight to use and handling, road holding and braking feel first class. Its recent overseas touring success gives great confidence, and this open top Series One is ideal for regular use and really putting on the miles. The E-Type presents very well with lovely deep Pale Primrose paintwork, gleaming chrome and a very well presented under bonnet area. The Black leather upholstery retains a lovely patina, and the Black mohair hood is in excellent condition. This is a very attractive car that's structurally excellent and mechanically incredibly strong ensuring it will not disappoint on the road.
