Description

A unique opportunity to acquire an exceptionally lightweight, road-registered Jaguar race car, meticulously engineered for high performance and exclusivity. This remarkable machine was created over a three-year period, culminating in 2012, by a highly skilled Scottish engineer with a passion for precision and speed. Based on a 1970 Jaguar E-Type, the project's ambition was clear: to produce an ultra-lightweight, high-performance race car with uncompromising engineering standards. At its heart lies an original 3.8 litre E-Type engine, extensively rebuilt and upgraded. Enhancements are said to include forged pistons, a lightened flywheel, and uprated camshafts, delivering outstanding performance. The engine rebuild alone reportedly exceeded £12,000 some twelve years ago, reflecting the quality and depth of the work undertaken.

The car was successfully campaigned at Knockhill Racing Circuit on numerous occasions before the original owner's passing around 2013. Thereafter, it remained in dry storage until its acquisition by the current owner in summer last year. Since then, the vehicle has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment programme. Works include a complete brake overhaul with new discs and pads, fully rebuilt Weber triple carburettors, and the installation of a new race battery, hoses, distributor, spark plugs, and alternator, alongside numerous additional components. Safety and driver engagement have been enhanced with new race seat belts and a Sparco racing seat. The car has been professionally wrapped in Jaguar Silver, echoing the iconic lightweight racers. Bespoke Perspex windows with sliding sections have been fitted, while the lightweight fibreglass body and panels were purpose-built to minimise weight, complete with a removable hardtop. Further features include a lightweight fuel tank and integrated fire suppression system, underscoring its competition-ready credentials. Currently fitted with semi-slick, road-legal tyres, the car is equally suited to racing or road rally use thanks to its road registration.

Prior to sale, the vehicle will benefit from a rolling road set-up by a specialist experienced with Weber-carburetted performance cars, ensuring it is finely tuned and ready for its next chapter. The engine note is nothing short of exhilarating, an unmistakable soundtrack that perfectly complements its performance. A truly one-of-a-kind creation, this Jaguar offers rarity, engineering excellence, and thrilling capability in equal measure. A standout addition to any collection and a guaranteed conversation piece wherever it appears. Consigned by Stewart Banks
