‘The most beautiful car ever made’ Although we couldn't agree more, this was not us, but Enzo Ferrari speaking.
Its combination of style, performance and competitive pricing established the e-type as a true icon. A top speed of 150 mph, disc brakes, rack in pinion steering, independent front and rear suspension distinguished the car from its competitors.
The E-type, or XK-E as it’s called on the other side of the ocean, was introduced as a rear-wheel drive two-seater grand tourer and as a convertible roadster. The first series was divided in 2 runs: the early cars who sported the 3.8 liter engine, and the later 4.2 litre. Later models are the 1.5 series, 2-series and 3-series. The 1 series and especially the early Flat Floors are the most sought after and most valuable ones.
This fine early series one 3.8 l Flatfloor that we have for sale ticks all the boxes. It has undergone a fully documented ‘Nuts and Bolts’ restoration with no expenses spared. It has all the correct numbers, matching numbers and colours. Produced end of 61, and first registered in the US in the beginning of 63. It has a Jaguar Heritage certificate, proving its matching numbers and paint. The car has an immaculate fine Carmen Red paint, matched with a black interior with the correct bucket seats retrimmed in fine leather. All instruments and toggle switches are pristine and working, and what's really rare, is that it still has the original ‘His Masters Voice’ radio in working condition. A new mohair top has also been installed. On the mechanical side, the car went through a thorough rebuild, so that in fact you have a brand-new classic E-type.
As with all E-type Jags the driving experience is a joy, and the looks of the car is second to none. Its sound is as you would expect of a Jag: sporty but refined. Its engine starts at the button, the 4-speed gearbox slices through its gears, and the comfortable leather bucket seats, wooden steering wheel and endless bonnet even makes the shortest ride a pleasure, leaving you with a big grin.
