FORD CORTINA MK1 HISTORY in a nutshell

Unveiled in September 1962 in a standard & deluxe spec. Firstly called "The Archbishop", Ford decided than to improve massively the replacement of the Anglia 105E, focusing on an overhead valve engine, 4 speed gearbox, MacPherson strut front suspension and recirculating ball steering. Ford Cortina created a total new segment of the British car market, marketing new standards for the following two decades since mid Sixties.

Soon the "Y" iconic rear lights became the symbol of this beautiful car: light, simple, functional, british taste and...drivable.

The 1500 engine of this sports Cortina was fitted with twin choke Weber carburetor, front disc brakes, remote gearchange and modified suspension.
