Trade-in car. Introduced in 1934 by Citroën the Citroën Traction Avant was a very innovative car. At the time Citroën was owned by Michelin, that used the Traction to test the development of their trail-blazing radial tyres. The Traction Avant came from the hands of André Lefèbvre and Flaminio Bertoni. It was to become the first production car to have front-wheel drive (Traction Avant in French) and an integral body. Between 1934 and1957 (the DS introduced in 1955 initially used the same engine as the Avant) some 770,000 were built. The Citroën Traction Avant was built in three separate plants; Paris (France), Vorst (Belgium) and Slough (UK). Our car is Portuguese and was first registered in 1937. This particular Citroën Traction Avant distinguishes itself by having a 6-cylinder engine. This Citroën Traction Avant does require restoring. Basically the car is sound, the chassis and bodywork need attention but have no major rust issues. Whilst the engine does turn over, we would advice you to carry out a major service to bring out the best. Inside the rear seat is absent, the dashboard on the hand together with its clocks and fittings is complete. One always has to expect a few bits and pieces may be missing with this kind of restoration. The good news is that spare parts are easy to obtain. All in all this Citroën may appear a little rough, but it basically is more than sound. THIS VEHICLE IS IN OUR STORAGE, VIEWING BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
