Description

Registration number: AR-63-43

When Aston Martin launched the DB6 at the London Motor Show of 1965, the conclusion was this Aston had been improved in almost every aspect, compared to its predecessor, the DB5. With minor structural adjustments, the DB6 achieved top speeds of up to 240 km/h, while a car magazine recorded 0-60 mph in just 7.1 seconds. That's still pretty quick, even by today's standards!

The DB6 was significantly enhanced. Its body underwent extensive wind tunnel testing, to improve stability at high speeds and in crosswinds. With a streamlined rear end and changes to the rear axle, the DB6 not only offered improved performance, but also more interior space. The rear passenger space was considerably larger, allowing four adults to travel comfortably, even at higher speeds. And luckily, the car still closely resembled the phenomenal Aston Martin DB5. It's common for a DB6 to be mistaken for a DB5 here in the showroom. We consider that a compliment!

This DB6 has everything just right. Firstly, it features the desirable and very rare manual transmission, with which this Aston Martin was originally equipped. Additionally, this Aston has the sought-after 3.73:1 rear axle ratio and is an original factory Vantage (!) with matching numbers. This DB6 also retains its original colour scheme as it left the factory, namely Dubonnet Red with Natural Brown leather upholstery. The combination of all these elements makes this DB6 an extremely rare specimen!

Perusing the extensive documentation with various invoices, we found out that this Aston Martin was supplied by Cyril Williams Motors on the 7th April 1966. In the past, this example underwent a partial restoration, which was skilfully and very well executed with a focus on preserving its authentic appearance. Since the restoration and overhaul work, it has always received good maintenance, hence this lovely vintage Aston Martin's condition is very good.

The Superleggera body underwent a complete restoration a few years ago, and going by this work, we can conclude that the car looks well cared for. This DB6 was expertly repainted, and the paint finish looks very beautiful as a result. A thorough inspection reveals that the chrome brightwork is original and in good condition. Furthermore, the underside of the car is also in good condition.

Inside, we find beautiful leather upholstery, which forms a very chic combination with the exterior. The red carpets, along with the rest of the interior, are in marvellous condition. The exquisite gauges, along with the dashboard and switches, look beautifully maintained. The red carpets are a feast for the eyes; the colour combination of this DB6 is simply stunning!

Driving this DB6 is like stepping into a time machine. Sit behind the wheel and turn the key. The fantastic six-cylinder engine with three double carburettors makes a beautiful sound and smells delightful! A very nice addition is that this engine is matching numbers, as we mentioned earlier. Mechanically this Aston Martin is in excellent condition. For example, the braking system was also completely overhauled a few years ago.

Don't miss this opportunity to own a piece of automotive history. This is a special Aston Martin DB6, the kind of which we like to see them. An original 'factory Vantage' in the original colour scheme, with the coveted manual transmission, 3.73:1 rear axle ratio, and matching numbers!
