Description:
The British sports car manufacturer AC built a typical British roadster under the name ACE. The American racing driver Carol Shelby came up with the idea of using a V8 engine from the USA for the pretty roadster in 1961 in order to win races. The famous AC Cobra was born. Shelby didn't just put the Ford V8 in the AC Ace, he reinforced the chassis and adapted the gearbox and differential to the increased power. The disc brakes from the Jaguar E-Type were used. The AC Cobra was built in the AC factory in England.
This AC Cobra 289 was delivered to Pittsburg on March 20th, 1963 in the rare color combination black / black. All the owners of the Cobra are known. The Cobra still has its original engine (very rare!). In 2015 this Cobra was restored frame off by the specialists Richard Waldroyff and Peter Knight in the UK.
