Such a pleasure again to be able to have this car - which comes with such a lovely story too

Completed by Bentley in December 1959 this S2 was generally maintained by Official Dealer HA Fox of Mayfair

The apprentice who worked on this car eventually became a fully qualified technician and continued to maintain her, more over as he was in love with the colour specification

Move on a couple of years and this still young man emigrated to the West Coast of the USA - on a visit back to the UK to see relatives and old work colleagues in 1972 he was delighted to see 'his S2' in the HA Fox service centre again

When he enquired about the car it transpired that the then owner, Robert St. Clair Grant, of the Billings in Chelsea, (a renowned TV comedy actor of the period - most famous for playing the cheeky conductor in "On The Buses"), was happy to sell B 82AM and a deal was struck - there is even the LWT windscreen sticker pass in the history file

So with just 27.932 miles covered up to that date over to Seattle she was shipped

We have photographs of her before her journey together with the then valid MoT and Tax Disc!!!

Obviously our happy new owner was more than well qualified to look after her during his ownership, which he did right up until he phoned me and offered her for me to buy in 2010

Owning and cherishing her for the previous 38 years he had taken the mileage on to a nominal, for her age, 59.000 only

Finished in, as he said, a striking contrast to the usual cars of the period, Sage Green over Smoke Green with Green hide interior and colonial glass she remains in remarkably original condition and is a testament to the quality of these cars when new

So, again we have photograph's of leaving his house in a transporter prior to her shipment back to London

To find an example with such a lovely story and such low mileage is most unusual

We had upon her arrival given her a thorough service with brake servo overhaul, gearbox band adjustment

We also fitted air conditioning our selves, in a manner which doesn't affect the look of the original fascia, and a Becker Mexico Retro stereo with exceptionally high quality speakers, which gives you Blue Tooth, Sat Nav and all mod cons.

Again we haven't disturbed the interior in anyway, as we didn't want to upset authenticity

The interior hides were fed vigorously to keep them soft and supple

So she was kept as my baby for 2 years, until a regular costumer saw her and couldn't resist wrestling her from me

In the meantime she has only driven 6.500 miles in the last 12 years, and has been serviced as required by our friends at Chelsea Workshop

In fact in the three years prior to COVID over £15.500 was spent with them keeping her in tip-top shape and naturally in, what seems to be those distant times, she was kept diligently by Stora-Car in Northampton

Returning to me after 10 years it was nice to have her back in the fold again

We replaced the headlining with original wool cloth in the same beige colour and she looks perfect

All wheel discs where re-polished and the pretty-rings have been repainted in Sage Green to match the upper colour of the body work

Now with a total of just over 66.500 miles she remains in magnificent, original condition

A very special car indeed
