This Porsche 911S Targa first hit the roads in 1971. This is the then top model 911. A 911 in Targa shape with an 180 PS 2.2 6 cylinder boxer engine. This Porsche 911 has a lovely Metallic Blue (code 324) finish. It has remained in great condition. The fine bodywork has nice and thin, correctly aligned panelwork. All the brightwork is also in good shape. The paintwork is pristine without any signs of wear and tear. A lot of recent fine work carried out inside the car is apparent. In the partially renewed upholstery the leatherette stands out. The door cars have been partially re-upholstered and the carpets inside and in the boot space are completely new. The rear bench was in such good condition that they decided to keep the original. The “butterfly” steering wheel has been clad in new leather and the given a new hooter button. It is certainly a great feeling to take place behind the wheel of this 911S. The door closes with that characteristic Porsche click and the fuel injected 2.2 litre engine springs into life with one turn of the ignition key. The engine is really steals the show, what a great piece of German engineering! The 2.2 litre engine delivers 180 Ps at 6,500 revs. The fuel injection ensures perfect performance under all circumstances. Due to an earlier nut & bolt mechanical overhaul the engine runs perfectly. There are invoices present that underline the work carried out. The stainless steel exhaust adds a fantastic note to the finely tuned engine. Changing gear is easy and precise in part due to the recent fitting of a new clutch. The gear ratios are in perfect balance making this car absolutely fabulous to drive. This enjoyment is only enhanced because of new suspension rubbers and good quality tyres. This 911 has therefore lovely road manners and is possibly more comfortable than one of the new 911’s. Was everything perhaps so much better in the past? The 15” Fuchs wheels no doubt contribute to the level of comfort. Driving this 911 is so nicely predicable and easy to control thanks to the instant engine response to the throttle.
