Description

The Ferrari 328 GTB, produced from 1985 to 1989, succeeded the 308 and represented the final evolution of Ferrari's transverse mid-engine V8 line before the 348. Styled by Pininfarina, it refined the 308's design with smoother lines and improved aerodynamics. Power came from a 3.2-litre V8 producing 270bhp, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, delivering 0-60 mph in around 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 163 mph. Renowned for its balance, reliability, and usability, the 328 GTB combined classic Ferrari looks with everyday drivability, making it one of the marque's most celebrated and enduringly popular modern classics.

Our vendor purchased this example around 10 years ago, and after meeting Tim Walker, a well respected Ferrari racing driver and head of Walker Sport, the decision was made to build the ultimate 328 GTB for road use. Our vendor had originally met Tim at Castle Combe, where he was competing, and winning, in his Ferrari 328 GTB in the Pirelli Challenge. Our vendor decided he too would like to try his hand at this fantastic series, so it was agreed that Walker Sport would take on the project of building a race car similar to their own, but shortly after work began, our vendor moved overseas and the direction of the project changed towards building an uncompromised fast road car.

The engine is a masterpiece, with the original block retained, but using cylinder liners from the Ferrari 360, heavily modified 348 pistons, Farndon conrods, ported 348 cylinder heads machined to take belt tensioners, bespoke billet inlet manifolds, individual Jenvey throttle bodies, DTA management system, bespoke wiring loom, Hi torque starter motor, uprated alternator and a Hi flow water pump using waterless coolant. The result is an engine capacity increased to 3.7-litre, now producing around 340bhp. A lighter flywheel was fitted alongwith an AP Racing clutch, then the standard gearbox was rebuilt with new synchro's, new bearings and an uprated diff pinion. Since completion of the build, maintenance has been carried out by leading Ferrari specialists Bob Houghton, who most recently serviced the car in September 2025.

In the handling department, the standard wishbones were retained, with uprated bushes, bespoke Penske adjustable dampers with custom spring rates and an uprated adjustable front anti roll bar. The front brakes are bespoke with AP Racing calipers, billet mountings, bespoke disc bells and AP Racing rotors. The rear brakes are 355 Fiorano discs with AP Racing calipers on billet mounts, and the original ABS system has been retained.

The bodywork was completely stripped down in 2016 and any previous corrosion or filler removed and all panels corrected before a full respray was carried out to an excellent standard by Walker Sport, the total bill coming to £11,653. The interior has also been retrimmed to an excellent standard in tan leather with an alcantara steering wheel. The wheels are a custom size wheel with 328 centres and a deeper machined barrel, giving the car a very purposeful stance.

This really is a stunning restomod style fast road 328 GTB, offered at a fraction of its build cost with just 2,500 miles covered since completion. It is being offered for sale due to our vendor spending less and less time in the UK, and he feels it's such a shame to leave this car sat idle in storage, it needs to be enjoyed as intended and we think with the current appetite for restomods, this particular example will generate significant interest.
