CT Analytics | Top 10 of the most popular Off-Road Cars

Off-road vehicles stand for wilderness and adventure. Even if current four-wheelers and SUVs rather have to hold their own ground in the search for parking spaces in inner cities. These ten models were the most popular off-road cars on Classic Trader during the last year.

PLACE 01: MERCEDES-BENZ | W 463
22.9 % OF ALL PAGE IMPRESSIONS

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is divided into several model series. The more upmarket 463 series from 1990 onwards with permanent four-wheel drive takes the top spot among the most popular off-road vehicles.

PLACE 02: LAND ROVER | SERIES III
17.3 % OF ALL PAGE VIEWS

The Land Rover Series III was built between 1971 and 1984 and, like its predecessor, was offered in long and short wheelbase versions.

PLACE 03: LAND ROVER | DEFENDER
11.4 % OF ALL PAGE IMPRESSIONS

In 1990, the name Defender was introduced to better distinguish it from the Discovery. Until 2016, the Land Rover Defender was built more or less unchanged. It is one of the vehicles that, then as now, has its home in the countryside, off-road and in the wild and as such is a timeless symbol of adventure and discovery.

PLACE 04: DKW | MUNGA
9.8 % OF ALL PAGE VIEWS

Munga stands for Mehrzweck-Universal-Geländewagen mit Allradantrieb (multi-purpose all-terrain vehicle with four-wheel drive). Auto Union built 46,750 of these light off-road vehicles between 1956 and 1968.

PLACE 05: LAND ROVER | RANGE ROVER
9.0 % OF ALL PAGE IMPRESSIONS

The first Range Rover models, from 1970 to 2002, were pioneers of sport utility vehicles, but unlike the majority of these vehicles, they were still off-road capable.

PLACE 06: MERCEDES-BENZ | W 460
7.9 % OF ALL PAGE IMPRESSIONS

Thanks to rigid axles, all-wheel drive, off-road reduction and locks, the “G” is suitable even for difficult terrain.

PLACE 07: TOYOTA | LAND CRUISER
7.6 % OF ALL PAGE IMPRESSIONS

The Land Cruiser is the 4×4 king of Africa. It was inspired by Jeep, or rather by an even earlier Bantam model captured from the Japanese army in the Philippines and rebuilt as the “AK10”. Apart from its indestructible construction and powerful engines, its extreme off-road capability makes the Land Cruiser a universal vehicle.

PLACE 08: FIAT | PANDA 4×4
5.7 % OF ALL PAGE IMPRESSIONS

PLACE 09: JEEP | CJ-7
5.0 % OF ALL PAGE IMPRESSIONS

10TH PLACE: LAMBORGHINI | LM002
3.5 % OF ALL PAGE IMPRESSIONS
