1972 Alfa Romeo Alfetta – An incredible discovery

Alfa-Romeo-Alfetta-1

At first sight an Alfa Romeo Alfetta from the 1970s does not appear to be something special in any considerable way. The Alfetta itself is neither that rare, nor does it impress with a special degree of durability, performance or visual aesthetics.

Real appreciators immediately become alert though when things revolve around an “Original”-Alfetta of the first production series or even from the first year of manufacture. Especially those first series models, built from 1972 to 1974, are desired and demanded by collectors and enthusiasts. The Alfa’s clean and stern look was in fact created by Bertone himself, though due to a technical squabble it was marketed as an internal product by the Centro Stile Alfa Romeo.

Alfa Romeo Alfetta – Ambitious Driver thanks to Transaxle

1972 the newly introduced Alfetta could already score with the public through its balanced driving dynamics, thanks to its transaxle construction type and a fifty-fifty weight distribution. Further highlights were the well-known 1750 engine with its indeed very potent 122 hp and the disk brakes on the front and rear axle. These features elevated the Alfetta to be a serious competitor among upper middle-class vehicles. Those were otherwise perceived as stuffy – thinking for example of models like the Mercedes /8 or the BMW E12.

Alfa Romeo Alfetta – 1 owner, all documents and a real stunner

This particular Alfetta is “the most beautiful Alfetta, we ever got our hands on!”, says the dealer. It is in remarkable condition. The extensive collection of verifications and original documents ensures a complete and accountable vehicle history report. Thereby it is made apparent that this pristine Alfa had only one previous owner.

This first and only other holder is the uncle of the current New York City mayor, Bill de Blasio. the The extraordinary Alfetta was registered on the 6th of September 1972 at Sant’Agata de’Goti, in southern Italy. The original delivery order including the original vehicle registration document and original Alfa Romeo service book are also present and enclosed.

Fitting its minor mileage, the exterior as well as the interior are in a uniquely splendid condition – a feast for the eyes. It has a valid VIN for historical cars, a valid general inspection and is in sublime physical, technical and running condition.

Altogether this beautiful classic can be considered a truly rare discovery which has a convincing effect on every “Alfista” as well as classic car enthusiasts in general.

We for our part fell hard for this special Alfa, immediately!
