Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this most rare XJ6 Series III , which is equipped with the desirable manual gearbox and has an unrepeatably low mileage. Presented in its classic Jaguar colour combination, this XJ6 is a very special car indeed.
The final incarnation of the XJ6 line brought some very welcome changes which combined to produce the ultimate version of the stylish Jaguar saloon series. Features such as flush-fitting door handles, narrower door frames, one-piece door glass and a revised roofline, gave the Series III a subtly improved appearance but still kept the iconic Jaguar line intact. Using the long-wheelbase version of the car, the XJ6’s redesign was carried out by Pininfarina.
The original XJ6 model was the last Jaguar saloon to have had the input of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder, and the model has been featured in countless media and high-profile appearances. Production of these wonderful XJ6 Series III cars continued until early 1987.
On the Series III, Lucas-Bosch L-Jetronic improved performance, and the 4.2litre version had a very healthy power output of 205 hp (153 kW) at 5,000 rpm. Maximum torque was an impressive 313 Nm (231 lb/ft) at 3,000 rpm and the top speed was 124 miles per hour.
Supplied new by The Reigate Garage Ltd Jaguar in March 1985, the 1000-mile running-in service was then carried out by Reigate Jaguar in June 1985 at 967 miles. The car has had just 3 keepers from new, there is a substantial service history file, MOT history dating from 1989, period tax discs going back to 1986, the original V5/1 logbook and even correspondence from the Director of Jaguar Cars to the first keeper in 1985. It has its original sales brochure and vehicle price list (£16,595 plus options). There are also three sets of keys, tools and the original driver’s manual. All in all, a very collectable Jaguar modern classic.
