1 of the 972, RESTORED, MATCHING NUMBER, ORIGINAL, rare example!

The car is restored with seek of perfection and not with chasing profit. I restore cars for hobby therefore my mission is to save the ones who deserves better condition. It is a unique example of an original corvette. Since I bought the car there was a lot repairs carried on to return it close to the new state condition. Respecting the original parts and low mileage I was trying to save the most parts. Only the consumables and the hopeless parts were changed to new. I only installed original parts.

Short story of the car:

Chevrolet made available the glass targa top in 1978 as a unique option to Corvette. In that year only 972 examples left the factory with such option. By now far less cars survived especially in such beautiful color combination. The silver body is a stylish tribute to the 25th Silver Anniversary of the type and together with its Mahogany leather interior makes this car a true beauty. The cars value is further increased with its matching number engine and transmission.

Thanks to this state the philosophy of my restoration was to bring back to her original state. The work took two years together with the condition analysis, research, repairs and testing. The restoration was not made to earn some profit, but my salute to this masterpiece of the automotive industry and its engineers. Therefore, the clear decision was to restore the most possible parts and change only those which were inescapable state. The new parts were only original Chevrolet or original supplier’s products. Thanks to this you could enjoy this fine technical artifact as the first owner did on the summer of 1978.

She came into my possession with only 36.800 mileage. Thanks to the care of the previous owners most of her parts could be restored. To draw ack her shine and functionality again some parts should be changed to new like the complete AC system and most of the interior accessories.

After all work was done, I did throughgoing testing of the completed car. By that time, we could fine tune the set ups for all systems carefully. The care is complete in every terms and fully enjoyable as daily ride. However, every further mile should be well thought for this rarity.

The intention was to make a true collector gem, therefore the long restoration time was obvious and needed. Thanks to that every moment what you spend with the car is a true time travel. All the original printed documentation is available, even the super rare mirror and steering wheel lock manual (which was put on the sun visor by the dealer).

Test drive is available on a pre-arranged time only in dry conditions and showing 30% of the purchase price.
