The model The Porsche 911 has been produced continuously by Porsche since 1963 and over the years has seen many changes. We can, however, distinguish two main series: the 911 with the air-cooled engine (1963-1997) and the "modern" 911 (from 1998 to present). With the 993 model (1993-1997) the 911 had reached the maximum development. Thanks to the suspensions the road-behavior was excellent, but the air cooling prevented further evolution. Furthermore, the pavilion line, unchanged since 1963, did not allow for further aerodynamic refinements. A completely new model was needed, but one that maintained the aesthetic and mechanical identity (6-cylinder boxer rear cantilevered engine) of the 911. Thus, at the end of 1997 the 911 series 996 was born. In 2005 a restyling of front and rear lights, bumpers and interiors gave birth to the 997 series. Compared to the previous model, the new version, in addition to the return of the front rounded headlights, following the controversy over the long headlights of the previous series, reported some technical innovations.The 991 Porsche model was produced to replace the 997 model; is a car with a completely renewed design, with larger volumes and a 10 cm longer wheelbase. Presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011, it was introduced to the market in 2012. The lines reflect the classic 911 Porsche style, but are more modern. The line is unmistakable, with the classic round front headlights, which however have LED daytime running lights. The rear is modified in various details, including the new low and long profile headlights. It is offered in three body versions: coupe, cabriolet and Targa with fixed rear window. Thanks to the widespread use of aluminum and composite materials, the car was lightened by an average of 45 kg compared to the previous 997. Mechanically, the 991 is equipped with six-cylinder boxer engines of 3.4 or 3.8 liters of displacement combined with two different gearbox types: seven-speed manual or seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission, traction is rear or 4wd. The suspensions are active and electronically managed to improve stability, a MacPherson is used on the front, while on the rear there is a multilink.The 991 was revised in 2015 to then be marketed in 2016. This Porsche 911, updated and internally named by the Porsche "991.2", introduced a new design and a new range of engines all turbos. The smaller new 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder boxer equips the standard Carrera for the first time with a turbocharged engine, abandoning the 3.4 and 3.8 liter aspirated units. The difference in power between Carrera (370 hp) and Carrera S (420 hp) is due to the different boost pressure and the compressor of different sizes. The Porsche 911 GT3 makes history in itself, always maintaining the naturally aspirated engine. It is presented at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, has a sports set-up and is powered by the classic 3.8 liter naturally aspirated boxer engine that develops 475 hp at 8250 rpm, available only with the PDK 7-speed double-clutch automatic transmission, with close ratios and rear-wheel drive. Externally it is characterized by the larger cooling air intakes of the radiators, a small air vent near the front hood, a more profiled spoiler on the front bumper, different rear-view mirror supports, a fixed wing at the rear, a different shaped bumper including a grille with double central exhaust terminal and a diffuser to increase downforce. From the 911 GT3 comes an even more powerful model, the 911 GT3 RS, with a 4-liter engine, capable of 500 hp on the first version (2013-2015), then increased to 520 hp on the second version (2018), only on models with NEDC approval, without the particulate filter. Just before the "retirement" of the 991.2 series, only two models have the privilege of using the initials RennSport, which Porsche reserves for its most extreme cars: the 911 GT2 RS, with turbo engine, and the aspirated 911 GT3 RS. The car The Porsche 911 GT3 RS Weissach, with chassis no. WP0ZZZ99ZKS158871, is part of the latest series on 991.2 basis, renewed and presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2018, with updates to improve driveability and make it even more exciting. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is based on the 911 GT3 but has a series of features that make it even more specific for use it on the track. The renewed RS changes externally in details such as air intakes, wheels and headlights. The 6-cylinder boxer engine of 3996 cc is that of the 911 GT3, but with 20 extra hp, for a total of 520 hp and, above all, has a range of use unknown to the recent turbo engines which, however, have many more hp: you can rev up to 9,000 rpm, so the progression seems almost endless. The gear changes are lightning-fast thanks to the new PDK gear settings. The 0-100 km/h acceleration time is of 3.2 seconds and the maximum speed is 312 km/h. The calibration of the rear steering wheels is revised, to make the car faster in the turning entry phase, and the suspension arms are mounted on "uniball" supports and not on rubber ones. The "racing" substance is enhanced by the external appearance and bright colors. The rare and expensive optional Weissach package adds lightweight carbon fiber components to the frame, interior and body and magnesium wheels. The Clubsport package (included in the Weissach Pack) adds the internal protection roll-bar, the fire extinguisher, the safety belts with 6 anchor points and the switch to disconnect the battery (mandatory on race cars). With this equipment the GT3 RS weighs 1,430 kg and is the last variant of the Porsche 911 series 991 before the presentation of the 992 which takes place at the end of 2018. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS Weissach, with chassis no. WP0ZZZ99ZKS158871 is presented in a lively livery, in line with the tradition of the most sporting 911: the color is in fact a bright "Lizard Green". The red brake calipers denote the choice to opt for the braking system with steel discs, generally preferred by users who opt for track use. The current plate, MGT3520, is peculiar because it incorporates in the sequence, the "GT3" acronym together with the power expressed in PS. State of the Art New, km zero.
