This rare FIAT Dino 2.0 l owes its existence to the cooperation between FIAT and Ferrari.
In order not to have to start in the prototype class at races, according to the regulations, an engine had to be used that was built at least 500 times a year and installed in a production vehicle. Since Ferrari could never have met this requirement alone, but wanted to take part in Formula 2, Enzo Ferrari sought a conversation with Giovanni Angnelli and it was agreed that FIAT would create a sports car that was able to meet these numbers.
This was the birth of the FIAT Dino 2.0, which was designed by Pininfarina. The 2.0 l aluminum engine (the 2.4 l later had a cast iron engine), with 1988 cc capacity and 118 KW / 160PS at 7,200 rpm, is fed by 3 Weber double carburettors and whoever heard how to sip beautifully, forgets this noise, where he got goosebumps, certainly not anymore.
Of course, he already had a 5-speed gearbox in 1968 and is also very sporty to drive – he didn’t have much competition in his day.
There were only a few vehicles that looked breathtaking, practical and also had steam.
The DINO we offer is a very early example (first registration date 01.02.1968), which can be easily recognized by the chassis number “135AS0000040” (the 40th built). The car has a leather interior (no plastic) and a contemporary radio from Becker Modell Europa. This is a complex German full restoration, so that the new owner will have a lot of fun with the classic car for a long time.
Since the restoration, the car has only been moved 6800 km with care.
