1988 | Ferrari F40
Description
Ferrari F40
- 1988 delivered non cat – non adjust
- Ferrari Classiche Certification
- Only 18,000kms with recent full service and fuel cell replacement
Designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Ferrari and the last Ferrari approved by Enzo Ferrrair, the Ferrari F40 is probably the most iconic car from the late 1980’s. At the time, the Pinnifarina styled car was the fastest, most powerful, and most expensive road car for sale.
Today the styling has aged gracefully, in the flesh the F40 is an angular, muscular supercar that brings the driver back to the analogue, raw and sensory driving experience missing from most modern supercars. With a 5 speed manual gearbox, no traction control or ABS the F40 is closer to racing car than road car and is most definitely a driver’s car – rewarding good driving and controlled steering / pedal inputs.
Taking styling cues from the 288 GTO Evolution, the F40 was one of the first road cars to employ the extensive use of carbon fibre in its chassis and body, the F40 weighs only 1100kgs and has nearly 500bhp – even by today’s standards an impressive power to weight ratio, helping to make the F40 the most iconic car of its generation.
Built in 1988 this F40 is the most desirable non cat – non adjust suspension specification. This car was first delivered in 1988 through the Ferrari dealer in Bari Italy, who also carried out its first 1500km service a year later.
The car remained in Italy for over 10 years before being sold to its second owner in Denmark. Sold to the UK in 2015 where it has remained with its current and only 3rd owner since 2015, this car has been well serviced and maintained. The most recent work has been carried out by Furlonger Specialist Cars, one of the well-known UK Ferrari specialists. Work undertaken included full cambelt service, new clutch, and new fuel cells – undertaken as recently and the end of 2022.
Furthermore, the car sits very well, the Rosso Corsa paint work is in great condition and some weave is visible on the various panels of the car, inside the car still has some of the original plastic protection around the pedal area and the seats show a light amount of wear reflecting the low 18,000km mileage of the car. The engine bay is clean and well presented with new air filters and recent service, and the car sports a tubi sports exhaust which improves subtlely the turbo charged V8 symphony. This F40 also retains its original instruction manual and service record book as part of its history and importantly has Ferrari Classiche Certification.
