For sale is this beautiful Ferrari 512BB in perfect original condition and very rare color combination silver/black.
The 512BB was introduced by Ferrari in 1971 as the mid-engine successor to the front-engine Ferrari Daytona 365 GT / 4 Berlinetta Boxer.
The designation 512 is made up of the engine's key figures, namely the displacement which was increased to 5l and the number of cylinders (12 cylinders) as well as its designation Berlinetta Boxer.
For the sake of completeness, it should be mentioned that, strictly technically speaking, it is not a boxer engine, but a twelve-cylinder V-engine with a 180 ° cylinder angle.
It was the first street-legal Ferrari with a mid-engine, because it took years of convincing from Ferrari developoing engineers to finally release a mid-engine platform for street-legal Ferrari into series production.
Enzo Ferrari himself was an opponent of this concept, he feared the end customers would not be capable of dealing with the handling.
The mid-engine platform, however, has proven itself and was a great success, so it was adopted for the successor Testarossa.
From 1981 there was a model update / revision and instead of the four Weber triple carburettors, a Bosch injection system was installed.
However, this offered 512BB is a first series 512BB which still has the Weber triple carburetor, which is reflected in the much nicer sound as well as in a much better and powerful performance.
From this first series only 929 vehicles were ever built, which were mainly delivered in red paint.
So this 512BB with its silver paint and black leather interior was already a small rarity when it was delivered!
Nowadays, many restored vehicles are on sale, which have been completely dismantled and partly rebuilt with re-manufactured parts and repainted.
This 512BB is still in the original delivery condition and has never been restored and never painted, so almost all parts (excluding wear parts) are absolutely 100% original!
This flawless original condition can of course be proven by a completely traceable history:
First registration: 01/01/1980
Chassis no: F10 2BB 29771
Delivery via Ferrari Switzerland in January 1980 in Geneva to the first owner Pascal Font. Mr. Font wanted to take it with him when he emigrated to America, but decided against it and sold it in the same year to Zurich to Mr. Serge Camenzind.
When Camenzind died in 2014, his widow sold the vehicle to the current owner: a famous, internationally known musician and actor.
He kept the 512BB in his collection alongside other top-class sports cars and classic cars, always covered, in a temperature-controlled garage and only used it for occasional trips.
