Description

We are delighted to offer this incredibly correct, matching numbers Aston Martin DB4 Series II onto the market. Still retaining factory colours of Black Pearl paintwork and Dark Grey Connolly leather, this very special car also retains its original registration number 1616 WY and comes with its original old Brown ‘buff logbook’ along with Newport Pagnell factory particulars.

1616 WY was supplied new to a Sidney Quinn at Vance Chambers on Cloth Hall Street, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. This low ownership car didn't change hands again for another 30 years, in 1991 coming into the hands of the proprietor of an Industrial Sheet Metal Company in Wakefield. In 2001 the Aston Martin was in private hands in Wakefield before selling to one of our clients, a Yorkshire based collector who purchased the car in 2004. This was one of the first of his 40 plus classic car collection and over the past 21 years of ownership the DB4 has covered around 2500 fautless miles.

This Aston Martin has been maintained mainly by Aston Martin specialists over the course of recent long-term ownership. Whilst the car has covered ultra-low mileage, it has been kept totally on the button throughout ownership and on viewing the car up on the North Yorkshire moors, it was immediately driven over High Blakey Moor, through Hutton Le Hole and over to Malton without hesitation. On the road the car performs perfectly, the original engine is incredibly strong with impressive compressions across all cylinders and very good oil pressure. The four-speed gearbox is lovely and smooth, the DB4 handles perfectly and has a wonderful, raspy exhaust note that further enhances an incredibly impressive driving experience.

1616 WY has the appearance of a well-kept, highly original car. The Black Pearl paintwork has a lovely finish, the chrome work is excellent, and the body panels are beautifully straight with correct gaps. The underside is ultra impressive with perfect floor pans, sills, jacking points and still retains its original features such as the wired edge bodywork to the wings and front valances. The car sits on painted wires and has an incredibly correct appearance. The upholstery has beautifully aged, and all switch gear is in lovely order and working correctly. There's no doubt this is a car for the discerning buyer, it retains matching numbers, colours and is a genuine low ownership car that really is incredibly usable.
