Developed from the 3 ½ litre and Speed 20 the Speed 25 came with a proven pedigree. Performance was excellent for the day and the smooth engine developed 106 bhp at 3,800 rpm. Being the SC model, the car has the dual exhaust system and servo assisted brakes.

This Speed 25 Charlesworth Saloon is an interesting example being the last Speed 25 made and the last pre-war Alvis built. It was originally registered to a Shropshire owner in October 1940 and had little use until after the hostilities. It then passed through another ownership and was acquired in 1956 by an Alvis enthusiast living in Warrington who kept the car until the mid-70’s. Then the vehicle went to America we believe returning to the UK in the early 90’s.

More than £50,000.00 has been spent on the mechanicals in the last 3 – 4 years. This has included a complete engine rebuild which included a re-bore, new pistons & rings, big end bearings replaced and a new aluminium cylinder head to name just the major components. A new radiator was also fitted.

The front suspension has had a complete overhaul. The fuel tank was cleaned out and the fuel lines cleaned. A new 3.8 to 1 crown wheel and pinion has been fitted to improve overall performance. A new stainless-steel exhaust has been fitted.

A new headlining was also fitted along with various work carried out on the bodywork.

The detailed invoices are in the history file. All the mechanical work was carried out by Early Engineering.

Fisher Restoration have carried out a detailed inspection which is covered by a three-page report.

The car is a joy to drive and the reason for selling is due to the owner’s age.
