It is one of the smallest but harder to beat racing Alfa Romeos: it is the 1974 Alfasud ti 1300 prepared for the Touring Competition category (FIA CT22) by the Italian team Aldo Bigazzi.
The Alfasud was a brand new model introduced in 1971 that few years later received the upgrade of the "ti" version (Touring International) with two doors, rear spoiler and an aggressive look. Technically it remained the same: front 4 cylinder boxer engine, front wheel drive. It was really light and thanks to its 750 kgs together with the 5 speed short ratio gearbox it had been a winning car both on track than on hillclimbs; it used to fight against bigger and more powerful cars. The little 1.3 engine has an output of 126 hp, thanks to the cures of the team Bigazzi who took care of the car, starting from the rolling chassis. Larger fiberglas flares body fully repainted in Giallo Pozzuoli with black bonnet; plexiglas side windows and simplified dashboard, in order to get the minimum weight.
Mechanical has been carefully overhauled, with adjustable suspensions, vented larger Lockheed discs, short ratio gearbox with limited slip differential and racing wiring loom.
With the race driver Carlo Falorni, the car gained the success of the Italian Historic Hillclimb Championship (2nd group) in 2006, 2007 and 2008, with great times. It has been even a reliable and performing car on some track races. In 2015 the current owner gained the class title of the Italian Historic Hillclimb Championship (2nd group).
Together with the car it is available one engine, one gearbox, one rear axle and arms (all original from the Alfasud ti), then a head gasket, two larger discs, side glasses and a second set of wheels.
FIA HTP valid up to 2025, documents ready for the transfer of ownership.
The car could be seen in Firenze by appointment. Further details on www.gulfblue.it
