Porsche 993 Turbo WLS1 – X50 – 430 hp – Exclusive Manufaktur
The Porsche 911 (993) Turbo equipped with the factory X50 Powerkit – WLS1 (which increases output from 408 hp to 430 hp) is a particularly rare and highly sought-after version among enthusiasts of the brand.
Only a limited number of 993 Turbo units were produced with the factory-option X50, which includes larger turbochargers, upgraded intercoolers, a remapped ECU, and a more efficient exhaust system.
The 993 generation is often regarded as the finest and most desirable of all 911s – not only for its exceptional road stability but also for its timeless beauty. Porsche itself describes the model as a major leap forward, both technically and visually. As such, it is often referred to as “the Holy Grail for purists.”
The WLS engine upgrade (Werksleistungssteigerung – factory power enhancement) could be ordered directly from Porsche for the 993 Turbo. This variant served as the technical foundation for the GT2 models developed for track racing.
Our example – a 993 Turbo (X50 - WLS1) – is in excellent/perfect overall condition, and comes with duplicate keys, original radio with code, manuals, and stamped service book.
Originally sold new in France, its first owner – a passionate Porsche enthusiast – used it daily on the highway, commuting between his home and his factories. This explains the majority of the mileage and the exceptional state of preservation. The car was meticulously maintained and cared for. In 2001, it was acquired by a Portuguese collector who kept it for many years in his private collection, treating it with great care. In recent years, it belonged to another Portuguese collector who also cherished it, and who sold it to us recently as part of a broader reorganization of his collection.
Upon purchasing the vehicle, we were immediately impressed by its overall condition. The level of wear and appearance gave the impression of a car with barely 80,000 km. The interior showed virtually no signs of wear (only the steering wheel had slight aging, which we decided to professionally reupholster – now flawless).
Despite its excellent condition, we chose to carry out a complete exterior reconditioning, as it had some minor road marks and superficial scratches on 3 or 4 panels.
The entire restoration process was entrusted to KTX (ktx.pt), a Portuguese company specializing in classic Porsches. They disassembled all trim pieces, handles, doors, windows, lights, bumpers, sunroof, etc., to ensure that the new paint (in the exact original factory color) was executed to perfection – and it was!
We also replaced all body seals and rubber trim (as they naturally dry out over time) and refurbished all window surrounds and moldings. We opted to replace the front turn signals and headlight lenses (which had minor stone chips, though no cracks) – all parts were sourced as genuine Porsche OEM.
We also performed a comprehensive mechanical service, including new spark plugs, filters, engine and gearbox oil, belts, and brake fluid. The front brake discs and pads were also replaced – again using only genuine Porsche parts.
Finally, we refinished the wheels, which had light signs of use. They were fully stripped and relacquered to factory spec, and fitted with brand-new original Turbo center caps. The tyres are like new.
