What a fantastic find. Very original, very correct and in beautiful condition. This Mercedes Benz 280 SE was delivered new via Mercedes Benz dealer Soc.p.Az. M. Morescalchi & C. in Rome, Italy. It was delivered on the 17th of February 1968 (now 56 years old!) to Mr. Boldossone from Rome. The owner opted the 280 SE as a 4-speed Manual - the quickest S-Class available in 1968. He chose for 903 Blue over a Parchment MB-Tex interior. The dealer fitted a Frigette (Oklahoma) A/C system. The car comes with the original servicebook from 1968, stating the delivery info and engine number (matching numbers). The first serviced we're performed at the selling dealer in Rome. 

56 years later, we have found this car from the last private owner in Roma. We have brought the car to Oldenzaal and we we're amazed by the condition. The car wears all original bodypanels and has perfect panelgaps. The doors, fenders and lids shut perfectly. The body has been repainted once and this was done beautiful. The trim is all original - not a restored or repaired car. All parts have grown old together. Beautiful chrome bumpers, very nice trim around the car and windows. Nice taillights and clear headlights. The chrome grille looks excellent and gives the W108 a chic presence. The quality of the paint is beautiful. A nice coat of 903 Blue. It hardly shows any usermarks, no scratches, no dings and very straight.

The interior is also very original. Parchment MB-Tex seats, rear seat and doorpanels in great condition - this material is very durable. It has the original headliner and beautiful blue carpets. A nice bakelite steering wheel and original instruments and switchgear. It has an 8-Track player - with Italian 8-tracks included. A dealer installed Frigette A/C unit under the dash blows cold. We had the system flushed, checked and converted to modern R134a gas - it blows cold. 

The engine-bay shows all original paint and perfect inner fenders. The 280 Fuel-injected engine starts and runs perfectly. Perfect cold-start, idle and power. It is the original engine (matching numbers). The engine is dry and runs excellent. The 4-speed transmission shifts very easily and precise. The car has new Bilstein B4 shock absorbers in the rear and sits on Michelin Classic MXV tires. The condition of the undercarriage is something amazing. All factory coatings and sheetmetal, just cleaned. 

The trunk of the car is also original and non-restored. The original matt-black paint and original floormat. It shows the original sparewheel and jack. Also the toolset is present.

The car comes with the full set of Manual, Books and ofcourse the servicebook. It shows all the dealer stamps of the services performed.
