The XK8 is a grand tourer car that was launched in 1996 and was the first generation of a new XK series available in both coupe and convertible body styles and with the new 4.0 litre Jaguar AJ-V8 engine. The 1998 XKR was introduced with a supercharged version of the engine. Both the XK8 and XKR are electronically limited to a maximum of 155mph; the top speed of its predecessor, the XJS V12, being 158mph. A navigation system and self-levelling Xenon headlamps came as standard with the XKR with Jaguar's adaptive cruise control as an optional feature available on both models. Both come with all leather interior, burr walnut trim and side airbags. Jeremy Clarkson, during a Top Gear test drive, likened the interior of the original XK8 to sitting inside Blenheim Palace.
This 2004 Jaguar XKR Convertible is fitted with the V8 supercharged 4.2 litre engine mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox and has covered a mere 40,200 miles from new which is warranted by the MoT history. Finished in Ultraviolet Blue with black leather interior, the car retains its cherished number plate 'X70 XKR' and is supplied with a V5 registration document, a current MoT test certificate and a file showing that it has been well maintained throughout its life which is evident in a series of service stamps and accompanying invoices. 'Grace, space, pace'. These were the watchwords of Jaguar's founder William Lyons. Even today, a Jaguar car that meets these three criteria is to be considered amongst the firms best and X70 XKR embodies all of them. Consigned by John Tomlin
