Dispatched on the 19th of November 1969 by Henleys Ltd of London, this superb E-Type headed to its first owner in the Capital finished in British Racing Green with a Beige interior. Having been subject to an older restoration, the E-Type presents smartly with pleasantly aged paintwork that still holds a deep finish. Commensurate of its top-class restoration, this matching numbers E-type boasts a superb drive and is a perfect, reliable car for long distance touring. The restoration work on the E-Type began in 1990 when the bodywork was stripped down, inspected, and corrosion was attended to with new panels and sills. Classic Car Restorations of Norfolk took the body back to bare metal and repainted the car. Along with the body restoration, the engine was fully rebuilt, a new clutch was installed, and the steering and suspension system were rebuilt.
Nearly a decade later, the IRS unit was dropped and completely refreshed including a rebuilt differential, new wheel bearings, new prop shaft UJs, and the brakes were refreshed. Whilst the work was being carried out at the rear, a new reconditioned, unleaded cylinder head was fitted with new cams and valves. In addition to the mechanical work, the interior was fully retrimmed to its factory specification with new carpets and leather throughout.
YYF 153H is a car to be driven with confidence. The original 6-cylinder 4.2L engine holds great oil pressure and feels immensely spritely on the road with the branch manifolds providing the perfect E-Type exhaust tune. Whilst not a show standard car, this E-Type would suit a buyer wanting a Series II to use and create memories in.
