Beschreibung

Model History

Few cars have made a greater impression on the public than the Jaguar E-Type. It is difficult to imagine the impact the Jaguar E-type made when revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961. It launched a motoring legend. The Jaguar E-Type is a British sports car that was manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd between 1961 and 1975. Its combination of beauty, high performance, and competitive pricing established the model as an icon of the motoring world. Even Enzo Ferrari called it ''the most beautiful car ever made.’’

The E-type was based on Jaguar’s D-Type racing car, which had won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three consecutive years beginning 1955, and employed what was, for the early 1960s, a novel racing design principle, with a front subframe carrying the engine, front suspension and front bodywork bolted directly to the body tub. No ladder frame chassis, as was common at the time, was needed and as such the first cars weighed only 1315kg.The E-Type was initially designed and shown to the public as a rear-wheel drive grand tourer in two-seater coupé form (Fixed Head Coupé) and as a two-seater convertible 'roadster' (Open Two Seater). A '2+2' four-seater version of the coupé, with a lengthened wheelbase, was released several years later.The Series 1 was introduced, initially for export only, in March 1961. The domestic market launch came four months later in July 1961. The cars at this time used the triple SU-carburetted 3.8-litre six-cylinder XK6 engine from the XK150S which was capable of 150mph at a time when the typical family saloon could barely manage half that speed. Earlier built cars utilised external bonnet latches which required a tool to open and had a flat floor design. These cars are rare and more valuable. After that, the floors were dished to provide more leg room and the twin bonnet latches moved to inside the car. The 3.8-litre engine was increased to 4.2 litres (4,235 cc) in October 1964.

The Jaguar E-type turned heads, broke records and created a legend all of its own. Even today the E-Type is considered to be one of the most beautiful cars ever built.

This Example

This particular example was manufactured on 23 February 1963 and distributed by Jaguar Cars of New York, USA.

In 2012 the car was exported to the Netherlands in a solid and original condition but needing restoration. The car was carefully ground-up restored by specialists in the period 2013-2015. Since the restoration the car has done less than 3.750 km and it is still very nice.

The car comes with records of service history and lots of documentation including pictures of the restoration are available. The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate is also included which confirm that this car is a matching numbers and original LHD Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Litre Fixed Head Coupe from 1963.

The car is finished as ordered new in Opalescent Maroon with beige interior.
