AR11410006347 (stamped on the bulkhead in the engine compartment). This number corresponds to a left-hand drive 2000 Spider Veloce with fuel injection engine for the American market, model year 1978. The US versions of that year had serial numbers between 115410006001 and 115410006400. The American identification plate states production January 1979.

This is a Spider from the second series, the so-called “coda tronca” models. The term “coda tronca” refers to specific models and versions of the Alfa Romeo Spider, with a longer, flattened rear end compared to other models.

“Veloce tronca,” on the other hand, is a specific version characterized by a sportier interior and more powerful engine.

Engine:

This car has a 4-cylinder in-line, water-cooled, front-mounted 1962 cc 80 kW 110 hp engine with 2 Dellorto DHLA40 carburetors (instead of Spica injection) engine type: ARO1615. The engine still has the original matching number A994403.

The Spica injection system and catalytic converter (which reduced power slightly) were modified, giving this model more power.

Transmission:

Manual 5-speed transmission driving the rear wheels. Transmission number 65623.

The car was originally delivered in the US. The 2000 Veloce USA is equipped with heavier bumpers and marker lights.

In recent years, considerable costs have been incurred to convert the car to a European version and to upgrade it significantly. The conversion and upgrade were carried out using original new parts. New parts worth €17,000 were used (invoices will be provided). This does not include labor costs.

Many US models have been imported to Europe. These Spiders are often less prone to rust (making them highly sought after) and are slightly different from the European versions.

Alfa Romeo Spider models are popular classics whose value has increased in recent years.

Parts for this car are still easy to find.

The undercarriage is in good condition with some signs of wear. There are no rust problems on the underside. The protective coating has been renewed.

There are various slight signs of wear around the car, but no damage. The body panels are original. The chrome work is in original condition with some signs of age. The glass is in good and original condition.

The black vinyl convertible top is in very good condition.

Wheels

The car is fitted with aftermarket BWA alloy wheels 6.00 x 14", which are in very good condition. The tires are Delinte 185/65R14 86H in new condition. There is a spare wheel.
