When Alfa Romeo pulled the covers off its 4C concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the marque's new model instantly grabbed headlines and won hearts. Drawing design inspiration from Alfa's 8C Competizione, the 4C is powered by, as the name suggests, a 1.75 litre turbo inline-four engine. Mounted transversely in the middle of the car, the engine sends 237bhp to the rear wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. Thanks to this engine placement, its double wishbone front suspension, and MacPherson Strut rear suspension, the 4C has a 38/62 weight distribution; equally suited for track days and jaunts through country lanes.

The real genius of the 4C is its chassis: The entire carbon-fibre monocoque ('tub') weighs just 65kg. Front and rear aluminium subframes combine with the tub, roof reinforcements, and engine mounting to give the chassis a total weight of only 107kg. In fact, the 4C's total curb weight is only 940kg, Lotus-levels of weight saving!

This example was acquired by our vendor in January 2021 and is one of just 200 right-hand-drive cars produced. Finished in white over a striking red and black leather interior, it features red contrast stitching across the dashboard, enhancing its sporting character. The driving position is quintessentially that of a true sports car, with both occupants seated low within the lightweight carbon fibre tub, delivering an immersive and engaging experience. The car presents well overall, with only minor cosmetic wear noted to the front splitter. We are advised that it performs as it should, and the odometer currently displays just over 27,000 miles, the majority of which have been covered during the current ownership. Regrettably, the vendor is parting with the car due to health reasons, and it is offered with the hope that its next custodian will enjoy it as intended—roof down and driven with enthusiasm.
